SSA's toll free telephone service is available from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays. The best times to call are early in the morning and early in the evening. And if you can, it's best to call later in the week and later in the month. SSA will mail you a notice before your Direct Deposit starts.
If you change financial institutions DO NOT CLOSE your old account until your payment begins to arrive at your new financial institution.
Call both SSA and your financial institution to:
- Report the death of a Social Security beneficiary
- Report any change of address
This form is provided by your financial institution as a service to help you enroll in Direct Deposit.
